THR33

For Robby's birthday, we had a joint-party with his friend, Varick, who turned 4 two days after Robby turned 3! Us mommies got to thinking that neither of us were very excited about throwing a birthday with all it entails, and so we decided to combine efforts and have a Medieval Castle-themed party. The idea for this party came from the fact that Varick, the second of three boys, loves pink and princesses, and wanted a princess birthday party. (He is the only boy in our joyschool of 9 kids). Robby also believes that he is a princess, and often runs around the house yelling as much. So, it was decided that they should have a castle theme party, at which they would be knighted.

It was a lot of fun, Varick's daddy (another Anesthesiology resident) made a giant cardboard castle façade, I made a castle cake (which we put some kitties on, because Robby insisted he wanted a kitty cake, not a castle cake), and we had a giant dragon piñata which the boys got to slay with a real sword once the candy was out. After the piñata, we had dragon nuggets to eat. (Waste not!) We also did jousting with stick-horses and water noodles, and decorated crowns for everybody.
