"Robby knows things."

** Scene: Driving in the car, passing one of the many water towers in San Antonio.**
"Mommy, what are water towers for?"
Mommy does her best to explain accurately, but in terms a 5 year-old can understand.
"... Robby explained it better."
"Um, okay. What did Robby tell you they were for?"
"He said they helped water get to people's houses."
"Oh." **pause** "Where did Robby learn that?"
"Daddy told him. And anyway, Robby knows things."
Robby sits in his seat, staring blankly out the window during this entire exchange.

This brings to mind another few instances where Robby knew things. Once we were at the zoo, and the flamingos were standing around their feed buckets filled with gross green water. Megan asked why their water was green, and my thinking was, "They are flamingos, they don't care if their water has been treated..." But Robby goes, "It's algae." I was like, first of all, how does Robby know what algae is? And secondly, that's cute Robby, but kind of silly. It is just dirty water. We took a few steps past the informational placard and Megan goes, "Look! Mommy, Robby is right!" And we read: Many people wonder why the flamingos have green sludge in their water-- it is algae!

Another time, Robby was sitting on my lap as I looked up some information about Sea World from their website before we went the following day. Robby pointed to a colorful bird on the screen and said, "Look! A Blue Macaw." It just looked like a parrot to me, so I moused-over and sure enough, it was a Blue Macaw.

See, Robby does know things!
