Okay, I said I would post about Christmas smells! This is me being true to my word.
Christmas smells and me go all the way back, to when I'd come inside after walking home from the bus stop during elementary school in the winter, and my mom would have Christmas smells going on the stove. They would fill the whooole house. Mmm-mmm! You knew Christmas break was just around the bend when you walked inside to smell that special blend of oranges, cinnamon, and cloves.
You too can make Christmas smells in your home! Here's all you need to do:
Bring a pot of water to a simmer on your stove. Add orange peels, a stick (or shake) of cinnamon, and some cloves (1 tsp- 1/2 Tbsp)... turn down the heat to low, and let it do it's thing. It will fill your whole house with a really good smell, and it also adds some much needed humidity to the air! Don't forget to add more warm water when the level gets low... you can let it go for hours!
So what are you waiting for? Go make some Christmas smells! If you are a purist, you can call them "holiday smells" so that you don't break the "no christmas before thanksgiving" rule.
