Sunday was Mike's official graduation! So he is now officially a doctor, which means he is now officially that much hotter. :-) We had an awesome and wonderful and busy week with our families as everyone came out for the big event. My parents and Drew, and Mike's parents and Christian were all here, and Alex and Laurie came out from PA for the big day. I'll do a quick run-down of what we did, and follow it up with all the pictures anyone could ever want!
Tuesday my family flew in, and went that evening to an Indian's game with Mike and Megan. I stayed home and felt glad that I wasn't there trying to wrangle Robby. Wednesday morning Mike took me out to breakfast at Yours Truly (finally! I have been wanting to go there for YEARS), and we spent the day doing miscellaneous outings with my family. That night, Mike's family arrived... then the party really got started! Thursday we all went out to Kirtland to see all of the historical sites our church has to offer there, including an amazing display of some bronze statues depicting the miracles of Christ. Friday the men-folk took the kids to the Great Lakes Science Center, and also a little bit of down-town shopping. I stayed home with the Moms and Mike's Dad and had a yard sale. That afternoon Mike and I went to a class meeting/ hors d'oeuvres thing at the school, after which the whole family went to Little Italy to have dinner. Drew and Christian gave Little Italy the "authentic" feeling seal of approval, so that was good to know we hadn't been kidding ourselves about Little Italy being worthy of the title. Saturday brought a trip out to Amish Country in the AM, followed by an awards ceremony in the PM where Mike won the Noether Fund Award for Excellence in the Area of Therapeutics. Sunday was graduation day, and was filled with a handful of different events... a breakfast at 7:30, the university-wide convocation at 9:30, the Medical School commencement ceremony at 11:15, and a reception luncheon afterward. We got home and all relaxed and then had a barbecue for dinner.
Monday morning we bade farewell to my parents who were flying home that afternoon, and the remainder of us loaded up and drove to Niagara Falls. It was a first for all of us except Drew, and it was pretty cool. It was also my first time out of the country! Yee-haw! The young men and I went on the Maid of the Mist, which was way fun and pretty intense! After that we drove to Palmyra, NY and spent the night at the most comfortable and cutest little rental vacation house! We spent Tuesday seeing more church historical sites in Palmyra, and we stuffed our faces at the Chill & Grill, which has the hugest portions you can imagine. We came home that night and played Rock Band until like midnight.
Wednesday we one-by-one said good-bye to all our lovelies, until at 3pm I was left with a very sad and empty house! The house will only get sadder and emptier, though, because on Tuesday the movers will come and pack our stuff and load it up to take it to Texas. We check out first thing Wednesday, and we're off on yet another great adventure!
So now that I have travelogued, here is the good stuff... the pictures! (And by the way, I swear my parents were actually here, too... but these pictures were all taken by my Dad, so he's obviously not in them... and he knows my mom doesn't like having her pictures taken, so she's only in one.)
