Like anyone (besides Mike) thought he wouldn't... but we got Mike's score back for Step 2 CS, the practical board exam he took in Chicago a month ago. As you probably gathered, he passed. It is pass/fail, and something like 95% of US MD students pass on their first try, so I wasn't sweating it. His score report was available starting around midnight Wednesday morning. He was too petrified to check it himself, so he brought his computer into me, woke me up, and had me check it. It went something like this:
Me: "Pass. I told you so."
Mike: "Are you sure?"
Me: "P-A-S-S spells pass. You passed. I told you."
Mike: "Let me see that."
Me: "I'm going back to sleep."
Mike: "Yay! You made me pass. Thank you."
Me: "ZZZZZZZ"
So now Mike is done with all his board exams until Step 3 a year and a half from now. Today he is going for an interview in DC-- his second and final residency interview. It is a mixed blessing that the Army has so few programs. Since there are only two, it makes it very easy to get your interviews done. But since there are only two,... there are only two programs worth of slots to match to. Kinda scary! So, after tomorrow afternoon the residency matching ball will be squarely in the programs' court. His applications are in, exams taken, yadda yadda. Phew. Now the waiting game! ~December 15th we will know if Mike matched, and where to.
