It just goes to show you...

Today began with me feeling "much afflicted." (I should preface this account with the fact that the two things in life that cause me ultimate stress are 1) dealing with things regarding cars and 2) dealing with things regarding doctor's offices.) Yesterday while driving back from Stake Conference, the "check engine" light had come on in the car that we just finished repairing not a week ago.  Also this morning, an infection I had been battling (and thought had gone away) returned with a vengeance.

So, I called the dealership to see how much they would charge us to plug in the computer to tell us what error code was making the engine light go on (after so much time at our regular mechanic with this car, I was embarrassed that it was acting up again so I didn't want to call shaker quality just yet).  $95.  Yeah, right.  Now I'm thinking... "hmm, mike's schedule is light right now, maybe we should just park the car for a few days and get back to it later."

I called the Dr. to see if the cultures they had taken last week had come back yet, hoping that would explain why the infection was back.  The office tells me that they cannot find any culture results, and that they must have been lost.  Would I mind coming in for another appointment today?  Yes, I would mind.  I'm not going through what I went through last week again today (a $30 co-pay and 3 hours in the office, DYING from discomfort and just wanting some kind of medicine to get me treated).  My Doc was not in, so I was a little firm and said I could not (read WOULD not) go in today, and that I needed an Rx pronto.  The nurse said she would try to contact my doc and they would get back to me.

At this point in the morning, I am thinking "why me?" And feeling quite sorry for my pitiful self.  I'm sure we're just going to have to dump another $400 into the car that increasingly looking more like a black hole than a black stratus.  I figure the doc is never going to call me back and I will just be in agony all day long.

And then... a light at the end of the tunnel!  The doctor called me back!  She agreed to phone in a script for me for a much more heavy duty drug, and she told me to just take another sample at home for a culture and take it to the lab-- that she would call ahead and let them know I was doing that so I wouldn't to have an appointment.  Hallelujah!

Mike has today off (thank GOODNESS), so after a phone-interview with an intern year program, he took his car off to good ol' Shaker Quality to have a looksie.  He was planning to drop it there and come right home so he could take Megan to dance.  Right about the time I expected to see him walking up the street, back from the mechanic, I looked out the window and saw him... with his car parked in the street.  He said they had read the error code... it is just something with the cylinders not all firing and he just needs to change out a spark plug or something.  The car is safe to drive, Mike can fix it himself and... how much did it cost?  ZERO.  You suck, Dodge dealership... we love you, Ron at Shaker Quality!

So, it just goes to show you, things always turn around sooner or later... and in the case of today, it happened sooner!  I am very grateful!  Everything that had been on my mind the last few days has now melted away and I have nothing to do except enjoy my family today.  Yes!
