Bedtime around the Norton household usually gets pretty silly. One night a few days ago, when I asked Megan which pjs she wanted to wear, she told me she wanted to wear the thermal trucks. Well, those are Robby's. "Okay!" I said, "but then Robby gets to wear your thermal hearts." Everyone was for it (Mike wasn't home, otherwise the previous statement wouldn't have been true). The switch was made, and pjs were applied to bodies. I was a bit surprised to see that Megan mostly fit into Robby's pjs (good thing they weren't footies). She just looked like a yokel Appalachian farmer.
Also, I am glad to say that Robby looked really out of place in girl jammies. Instead of looking just like a baby wearing pink jammies, he looked like a boy looking ridiculous. Sometimes with little boys who scream and act like girls, and love baby dolls, it's nice for their mommies to see them in a way that is a little more masculine. Even if that is only accomplished by effectively emasculating them.
(help! I'm sideways!)
When it was time to switch back, it was a problem. Megan really wanted to stay in the truck jammies. I didn't want her to totally stretch them out, though, so I wrestled her out of them. And there was a 20 minute tantrum that ensued. That's the problem with getting silly at bedtime. It always ends in tears.
