Activity!

After a week of doing... pretty much nothing... we were all feeling pretty worthless. So this week we've stepped into gear and have been keeping busy!
On Monday the new session of Megan's library class began, so we went as a family to the library for the morning, and then we came home and cleaned up/out our entry closet. No small task! It is the space underneath the stairs, so there is a lot of room to shove things when you want to forget about them. Mike and Megan ran a few more errands after that, and they went to guitar center where he bought some new strings for his guitars and picked up a blues guitar tutorial book. He has decided to officially learn to play the guitar, with some fancy book learnin'.

On Tuesday we got a lot of little tasks done, and I did a lot of research and planning about how the whole move process will go down. We still have not received our official orders yet, so we can't do anything with picking a date for the packers and movers until those come. This has been stressing me out because all I can do is sit here and wait to be able to get things rolling. So Tuesday I did a lot of planning and mentally preparing for how everything will go, and now I'm feeling a lot less overwhelmed. My research was also good because it showed me that there is no purpose in me going gangbusters organizing everything in the basement, because the packers would probably unpack and repack anything anyway. So now all I need to do down there is throw out what we don't want, get rid of all the empty boxes (which is about 2/3 of our pile of junk down there) and plan just to haul it up to the dining room to get packed for us when we move. I also realized I can stop worrying that we need to get rid of everything... we are allotted 14500 lbs for shipping our household goods... I used a little online calculator, and being very very liberal, our stuff only weighs 8000 lbs. And that's being VERY liberal. So now I'm not worried about what I have to get rid of, it is just a question of cutting down clutter that we don't want.

Today we packed up and headed out to the Great Lakes Science Center... it was practically empty, and a lot of fun! We packed up a light lunch and spent about 3 hours out there, also walking a bit on the lakeshore. Here are some pictures of the day's adventure.

And on a final note... I may be cursing us all, but I think winter is over! We only had one inch of snow in the whole month of march, which is very strange... and we've had more and more days approaching 60 degrees. We are looking forward to spending our last two months here enjoying all the great parks and other outdoor attractions.
