Tonight we went to a neighborhood block party that was put on by the neighborhood association, consisting of the 5 blocks immediately around us. It was a great time, designed to let people get to know their neighbors (and very few of us actually do know each other). As part of it, they had a raffle to help defray the costs of the security guards who were present, and some other costs of the neighborhood association. The winner of the raffle won half the pot, and the other half went to those aforementioned costs.
Well, guess who won?? Mike did! I wasn't going to let him buy a raffle ticket, but he got talked into it by the guy who was selling (a very persuasive man, by the way!) them. He was just going to buy 1 (they were each $1), but then the guy was like "Hey, they are 6 for $5!" So Mike, being Mike, said, "Okay!" I wasn't really mad at him, but I was like, "Grrr! Stop wasting money!!" But as it turned out, the raffle ticket they pulled was the 4th one of Mike's 6. So I'm not complaining! We won $110!!! So what did we do? Mike promptly went to Wal-Mart and bought...
I had some leftover birthday money I hadn't decide what to do with yet, so I gave it to Mike to supplement his filthy lucre and sent him off to get Rockband, which we had seen at Wal-Mart for $160 today. But our luck didn't stop at the raffle... When Mike got to the check stand, it rang up at only $99! SWEET! We have already had fun playing it tonight, and Megan is totally into it. She loves to play her "brand new guitar," as she calls it, and she likes to sing into the microphone. She already knows how to sing with the playstation microphone because we always play karaoke revolution with her. So she's ready to join the band. We asked her what song we should sing, and she proclaimed excitedly, "Hima Chima God!" (I am a child of God).

Awesome! I'm super jealous. I've been wanting Rockband for ages...but of course, for the XBox :)
