The Odyssey - part 1

I will attempt to chronicle our trip as best I can... I'm sure I won't do justice to how much fun we had visiting our families and friends.  Suffice it to say, we had a GREAT time.
The first leg of our six week journey was a two week stint in lovely Oregon!  Besides lots of Nana & Papa lovin', the most notable thing that happened during our first few days was the removal of my wisdom teeth.  I had been wanting to get them out for a while, but out here wouldn't have had the necessary back-up for watching the kids while I was still loopy.  So, I went to this fantastic oral surgeon that Mike went to when he was still a fresh faced pre-mish.  It all went really well; I only had two wisdom teeth that had ever formed (the doc called me a "half-wit"... think about it for a moment, you'll get it...). My recovery was speeding along, until 4 days after I got them out Robby head butted me right in the jaw.  I thought he had given me a hairline fracture for a while there!  I hadn't had any numbness or tingling (which can happen when your roots are down by the nerve, like mine were) until Robby massacred my face... thereafter, my tongue was numb and tingling for a few days.  We figured his massive noggin bruised the nerve, and that's why it gave me such a hard time.
The evening of my extraction, we headed out for Rockaway Beach to Nana and Papa Nort's beach house.  I had never been there since it was completed, so I was anxious to see it! It was so great to be there... it is beautifully decorated and is so cozy.
Megan loved going on walks with Nana and Zeke down to the beach.  She spent most of her time with Papa playing Pooh's Honey Pot Game online.
This all happened during week 1 of Mike's rotation in Tacoma.  He got his weekends off, so he drove
down Friday night t
o join us at the beach-- he was getting lonely, you see!  I'll limit my postings to what I did and saw, I'll let him talk about his time at Madigan.  So Saturday we went to Canon beach, and Mo's, and did some other touristy things that I can't remember anymore (hey, it was 5 weeks ago!).
Sunday we went to the branch out there for church... it is so awesome, the meeting house is only a few blocks from the beach house.  Sunday night Mike went back to Tacoma, and then Monday we headed back in to Beaverton.
When we got to the Beaverton house, there were some flowers on the porch.  It turned out they were for me, and I was totally confused.  At first I thought they were from Mike and I was going to be mad at him (he knows better than to waste money on delivery flowers!! :-)
If I would let him,  he would buy me flowers all the time... but I won't let him. So, he gets props for being a sweet man in that respect, even if I inhibit the execution.  Anyway... I thought they were from Mike, but when we pulled them out of their box, we saw it was from the Oral Surgeon's office.  Then, I was like "oh, how nice!"  Until I thought about it and said.... hey! How about you shave $30 off the cost of the procedure and forget about the flowers? For a tight-wad like me, that is a better gift!  ;-)
The rest of that week we did a lot of various things... playing in the park, going clothes shopping (I got some great stuff!), and my favorite thing of all-- just being around each other, talking, playing games, and enjoying company!
Friday Mike's mom took me and the kids up to Tacoma where we visited with Mike.  He showed us the base, the hospital, the commisary, post exchange, and all the other little stores around Fort Lewis.  It was pretty cool to be on a military base!  They even had a cinnabon in the px, which scores extra points in my estimation. Saturday afternoon, Mike's mom headed back to oregon, and Mike proceeded to drive me and the kids out to Richland.  Thus ends part 1 of our Oddesey!  More travelogue and pictures to come!
