The Odyssey - part 3

At the end of week 4 of our trip, we had one of the highlights of our visit.  My mom's Aunt Mitzi and her husband Stan came to Richland to visit/meet us.  The last time my mom had seen her aunt she was probably around 7 years old.  Because my mom's father died when my mom was only 5, I never knew him.  And since Aunt Mitzi was his only sibling, and I had never met her until now, I just never knew anything about that side of the family.  Since my mom was so young the last time she had contact with her Gollos side, she didn't remember very much about the family, or about her dad-- mostly what her mom was able to tell her.
So it was AMAZING to meet Aunt Mitzi, who could tell us so much about her brother (who she was very close to), and who looks so much like my mom!  I was able to learn things about my grandpa Gollos' personality that I never knew.  Until this meeting, I obviously knew that he had existed, but it always seemed like a very abstract existence, if that makes sense.  All the sudden this man who I am a direct descendant of became a real person to me.
And on top of all that, Aunt Mitzi and Uncle Stan are such wonderful people! Mike and I were so happy to get to know them for the few days they visited.  Megan and Robby sure loved them, too!  We had a great time with them. I think Megan's favorite thing was going to visit at their hotel and swim in the pool!  She has quite a things for pools, so that was a big treat.
So, hooray for the internet that has made it so easy to find long-lost loved ones!
